Special Evening Tours of Durham Cathedral Wednesday, 15th February 2006 Wednesday, 15th March 2006 6.30pm Tickets £22 each including supper, the tours which start at 6.30pm will include parts of the Cathedral which you were previously unaware of and tales which will amaze you. They also include a visit to the Chapter House and the prison, where you can visit the monk's cell. Supper is provided in the Undercroft at 7.45pm

Reptile Day at the Hancock Museum 24th February 10.30am - 12.30pm & 1.30pm - 3.30pm Have a close encounter with some of the Hancock's very own reptiles including a bearded dragon, royal python and Brazilian rainbow boa, and don’t miss the opportunity to see a live Cobra in Egypt Revealed.  Please note that this exhibition takes place in Egypt Revealed: Life & Death in Ancient Egypt which is a charging exhibition.

Image & Identity – creativity and personal style 4th February – 19th March at the Shipley Art Gallery Gateshead.  Artists and young people have worked together to create this eclectic array of work. Image & Identity  is an exploration of personal style and creativity inspired by the Shipley's collections. A selection of  work from this exhibition will be on display at the V&A, London.

Hot Glass Sandcasting Taster Session at the National Glass Centre, Liberty Way, Sunderland Pouring hot molten glass into a sand mould is one of the most direct ways of creating glass forms. After a quick demonstration you will be well on your way to creating your own art works.  Sun, 26 Feb 2006 9.30am 12.00 noon.  Cost is £10.00 per person

Residents and visitors in Darlington are being encouraged to put their best foot forward and discover some of the area’s best walks.  A new free guide called ‘Walk, the Darlington way…’, detailing ten picturesque routes, aims to get more people exploring and enjoying footpaths and bridleways in the area.

To launch the guide, an amateur photography competition is also being run by Darlington Council, with £100 of vouchers from outdoor specialists Millets to be given for the winning image taken during one of the ten walks featured in the guide.  'Walk, the Darlington way…’ has been produced by Darlington Council’s Tourism and Countryside Teams, and is available from Information Darlington, the town’s Tourist Information Centre.

Pond to Pond Walk Billingham Beck Valley Country Park Sunday 26th February 10.00am - 3.00pm

10th October 2003 - 31st March 2006 Hidden Treasures at Hartlepool Art Gallery & Information Centre
A unique chance to see some of the hidden treasures we usually keep locked away in our stores. It would be anything from a painting to a camera to a stuffed bird - why don't you come and see what there is?  This is a permanent display in the gallery's apse area, with items being changed regularly - all the items are from Hartlepool Museums collections, which have been collected since 1920 onwards. Free

Alnwick Shrovetide Football (28/02/2006), Alnwick Castle, Northumberland.  Ball thrown to chairman from barbican by Duke of Northumberland ball and procession piped to pastures in front of castle. Game played between residents of the two parishes of Alnwick. After game and presentations ball becomes property of 'Whoever shall carry it out of the pastures' usually by swimming the river.

The Roman Army Museum (Carvoran) Hadrian's Wall has displays devoted to Hadrian’s Wall and the Roman army.  The museum also has a Roman army recruitment film and Eagles Eye film

Hexham Farmers Market, Market Place, Hexham 25th February 9.00 am – 1.00 p.m Country Market selling local produce. This market has been named the best in the country by the National Farmer's Union 2002.
