North East England Partnership
North East England has adopted a regional approach to public sector relocation, with One North East, the Regional Development Agency, taking a co-ordinating role on behalf of the whole of the North East region. Our approach is to work with partners – from both the public and private sectors – to assist government departments and agencies with the relocation process.

The North East team extends to a wide network of private sector partners who can offer relocating departments and their staff advice and assistance in many areas:
- Property development and temporary office accommodation
- Staff recruitment
- Familiarisation visits for staff and families
- Renting and buying residential property
- Schooling
- Financial advice
- Leisure packages
One North East’s dedicated public sector relocation team is available to work with government departments and agencies to offer a free and confidential service to:
- Understand the relocation needs of departments and their people
- Be a central source of information for the whole of the North East
- Provide information tailored to the needs of departments and staff
- Offer a range of property solutions in any part of the North East
- Provide introductions to intermediaries who can assist departments with the relocation process – eg. property developers and recruitment agencies
- Work with departments’ relocation managers to help make the business case for relocation
- Organise visits to the North East for relocation managers and staff to view sites and premises, housing, and meet the region’s government departments and support organisations
- Project manage and facilitate the whole process
By co-ordinating a multi-disciplinary team and providing a single point of contact, One North East aims to help government departments and agencies make well-informed relocation decisions, present a sound business case and achieve relocation and efficiency targets.
